I’d love to hear if anyone has any ideas. ![]() Since the stem faceplate is flush against the bag, I also wonder if there are any options to use those bolt points to secure the bag. ![]() Having recently collaborated on the popular TMAT switch with Velo Lumino, Toms curiosity led to revisiting the question of how to best join the handlebar bag to the bi cycle on a randoneuring-style arrangement. I’d be open to hardware, but I’m wondering if there’s any way to use something like cordage to do this. The Dock-It decaleur is the brainchild of Tom Matchak, a framebuilder, designer, and engineer. Does anyone have any idea how I could add some extra security? The bag also has straps to secure it to the rack but some stability higher up would be best to prevent wobble. The barrel is supported at a point in space by a single strut that attaches to wherever you want. The fit is imperfect because the bag is flush against the bars, but I’d still like to make it work as I’m gearing up for some of my longest rides (going after my first 200km) and want to the cargo. The Dock-It decaleur system is defined by two principal parts, a rotary latching barrel (right) and a small docking button (left). It actually sits in front on the tombstone when installed, so I can’t get the bag seated on the rack without moving the decaleur off to the side, but the it’s not lined up to receive the hardware mounted on the bag (it’s not mounted in the pictures). There are a few small differences in the fit due to things like stem angle, the distance between the tombstone and head tube, etc., and now the VO decaleur won’t work. ![]() My current bike is a Surly Straggler and is equipped with a Rawland rando rack. It was mounted on a Velo Orange rando rack (mounted with p-clamps on the fork) and the Velo Orange decaleur. I had this Swift Industries rando bag mounted on my last bike (Surly Pacer) and it worked great.
